Visiting Yercaud? Then you must take a visit to this coffee plantation owned by MSP Plantations. 

This is a 150 year old coffee estate offering estate tours that is a one time experience. You will be taken through the complete coffee making process here. The best time to visit is during December when you can see the coffee cherries in their ripe, red state.

There is a museum, an artificial lake, coffee plantations and a cafe.

Coffee Estate Tour Points to Note

  • The tour will be for about 75 minutes.
  • You will be required to take your personal vehicle in the Estate for the tour. So be prepared to ride on the mud roads. 
  • There will be a guide alloted who will take you through the estate explaining everything in detail. They will go along with you on your personal vehicle. 
  • You also have an option to take the tour on horseback for a short distance at a cost. 
  • The tour starts from the cafe and ends at the cafe there by covering a distance of about 3 km. 
  • The horse back ride tour is for about 40 minutes. 
  • Children below 3 years can ride with parents and children above 3 years will ride separately. 
  • Please note that you must arrive 30 minutes before the time slot. 

Things to Explore in Cauvery Peak

Museum: showcasing machines and other equipment required for coffee making that were used in early years. You can also learn about the coffee making process through these machines. 

Man-made Lake: Take a walk through the artificial lake. You can take pictures here. 

Kombai Valley: Can enjoy the scenic views of Salem District from the Kombai Valley viewpoint located right adjacent to the artificial lake. This can be visited only if you're taking the estate tour. 

Coffee Processing: The tour concludes at the processing unit located near the refreshment area. Here, visitors can witness live demonstrations of coffee roasting and powdering processes, providing insight into the final stages of coffee production.

Estate Vegetation: The estate offers more than just coffee plants. As you take a walk through the property, you'll come across a diverse range of trees among the coffee plantations, including orange trees, pepper trees, and lemon trees. This mixed cultivation adds to the estate's biodiversity. 

Cafe: The estate also has a coffee shop/refreshment area. Here, visitors can purchase different varieties of coffee and enjoy various snacks and cakes. They also maintain a retail section where you can buy their processed coffee powders to take home.
