Shevaroy Temple is located at a hill top of Shevaroyan hill range which is highest point (5326 ft.) in the Yercaud City. Shevaroy temple is believed to be 1000 plus years old. This temple is dedicated to God Shevaroyan who is worshipped by the tribal people of Yercaud region. There is cave which is adorn by the God Shevaroyan and Goddess Kaveri. There is a belief that Goddess Kaveri is the guardian of all villages of Yercaud. During the month of May hundreds of native people gather to celebrate their annual festival in this temple with great enthusiasm.
What holds the significance of this temple is that there is cave in the temple which is said to be extended till cauvery river in Karnataka which is 480km away from this temple. It is said that Tipu Sultan was also hid in this cave during war times.
There is wishing well for which it is said that if a person manage to throw a stone by into the well from any of the 3 picked stones picked from temple by putting his back with well, then he will succeed whatever he plans.
